Make the Pie (Even!) Bigger!
Stewardship Education for Newark Central in 2016
Dear Newark Central family member:
Thank you! Once again, our fellowship has served OVER 3,500 meals in the last year for no cost to the recipients. That comes out to about 12.5 meals per participating member. Good work!
Now, you may be saying to yourself “ummm, I don’t cook.” Or thinking you’d meant to help with a meal prep or serving line, but it just hasn’t happened yet for you. But you’re sure you haven’t prepared or served or cleaned up after any meals, certainly not a dozen of them.
That may be strictly speaking true, but more broadly, we all as a Christian fellowship did things together that helped see to those post-funeral meals, supported the monthly Salvation Army evenings, set up Fellowship Hall before the Thanksgiving dinner, or made sure everything was in place to deliver trays on Christmas Eve.
It took all of us, working together in many different ways, to make possible those 3,500-plus meals we served up, in a variety of settings.
Newark Central is a church as well as a kitchen. A church is a non-profit organization that doesn’t make money. Instead we exist to serve. To serve God’s transformation of Licking County. To see lives changed in Newark and Licking County through Jesus Christ. To do that, we need people to give.
People give in lots of ways - including their time, energy and prayers. These are all needed and really appreciated. But we also need people to give their money, and we’re not ashamed to ask people for this because we believe that what we’re about is good and of real value.
As a church we have vision beyond our resources. That means that there’s lots we’d love to do but we’re constrained by funds. We need to increase our income so we can step up to do what God has called us to do. That’s one thing that the leaders in the church are praying about. So if you can help be an answer to that prayer, then give.
In the same way, we share our blessings, our resources, our giving together to make possible those ministry opportunities. Included in this mailing are some materials to show how we’re currently dividing the pie between various ministry areas, and to invite you to fill out a commitment card to help make the pie even bigger.
Sharing Sundays will be on Oct. 18 & 25. On either of those Sundays, or through the mail or by dropping it by the office, you may make sure your commitment card will be part of the recipe, as our Finance team determines how big the slices of pie can be for each of our ministries here at Newark Central. Please read through and prayerfully consider how you can help to “Make the Pie Bigger” in 2016.
